History Chappell Pascoe Solicitors
Apparently, a Mr Nicholson set up shop here in Crowborough in the 1980's but none of us would know him if we bumped into him... His firms and/or their successors were Nicholson & Co, then Nicholson Barrett, then Nicholson Cooper, then (even more imaginatively still) Nicholsons. We callously decided to break with this proud tradition in 2003 when we renamed ourselves Chappell Pascoe (to massage the egos of the two proprietors at that time, who have - amazingly - stayed put, longer it seems than Barrett, Cooper etc). This cunning ploy of changing our name seems to have had the desired effect of putting us a further step ahead of our creditors and others out to get us...
We try not to dabble. Yes, we used to do conveyancing and the like, but the bloke who did these things decided to leave (just like that) some years ago. We didn't know how to do the work he used to do and so we have left conveyancing well alone ever since.
How did we come up with our striking and clever strap-line "The long and short of legal advice"? Well, Chappell really is 6 foot 5 inches long, and Pascoe really is 5 foot 6 inches short. Clever, eh?
