What we do

Armoured helmet Apparently, a Mr Nicholson set up shop here in Crowborough in the 1980's but none of us would know him if we bumped into him. His firms and/or their successors were Nicholson & Co, then Nicholson Barrett, then Nicholson Cooper, then (even more imaginatively still) Nicholsons. We callously decided to break with this proud tradition in 2003 when we renamed ourselves Chappell Pascoe. This cunning ploy of changing our name seems to have had the desired effect of putting us a further step ahead of our creditors and others out to get us...

What else?

Oh yes, we did once try to develop a practice in international shipping law and marine insurance here in Crowborough, but were surprised and very disappointed to discover that there was not a lot of call for it in this part of the world - apparently the nearest river, the Rother, has not been navigable this far inland since the middle ages).

Anyway, these days we don't dabble just to keep client numbers up. Yes, we used to do conveyancing and leases and the like, but the partner who did these things decided to leave (just like that) some years ago. We didn't know how to do the work he used to do, and so we have left conveyancing well alone ever since.

How did we come up with our ingenious strap-line "The long and short of legal advice"? Well, Chappell really is 6 foot 5 inches long, and Pascoe really is 5 foot 6 inches short. Clever, eh?
